Dinesh D’Souza Teaches Us About Christian Love

Dinesh D’Souza made a film called 2016: Obama’s America that was meant to incite fear and hatred in the hearts of millions of Americans. He was recently busted in a World Magazine Article as a man who is engaged even though he is still legally married. He was also the President of The King’s College, a small Christian college headquartered in Manhattan.

I like getting both sides of a story. I read his side of the story today here.

I was all for hearing his side of the story until I read this:

“I had no idea that it is considered wrong in Christian circles to be engaged prior to being divorced, even though in a state of separation and in divorce proceedings.” (My thought: Dude, I’ve known that since I was 5! Separation means you’re still married. Legal marriage ends with death or divorce. Who doesn’t know that?)

and this:

“Ultimately this is not just about Olasky or even World magazine. It is also about how we Christians are supposed to behave with one another. And the secular world is watching. Is this how we love and treat fellow believers? If my conduct was improper, wouldn’t it be the decent and charitable thing to approach me about it? Instead, here is a clear attempt to destroy my career and my ministry. This is viciousness masquerading as righteousness. And this is the behavior that is truly worthy of Christian condemnation.”

Sigh. Mr. D’Souza, if insert yourself into a political hotbed by making a movie attacking a sitting President, all of that Jesus you represent goes out the window. Again, WHO DOESN’T KNOW THAT?! You’re right about the approach, but you crossed the line from Christian-only a very, very long time ago.

Politically involved Christians, get your life! Please don’t get so caught up in the money and fame that you forget the Jesus who saved you and propelled you to your high place. Don’t get cocky. Don’t think you’re above the fray. It’s a cold world out there. You will be brought down low quickly. I pray that I remember that too.
