Sue Everhart Is Not So Smart
I read about this story on ThinkProgress and busted out laughing just at the headline. I didn’t read anything else about it, but that article lists her Facebook status about it and it made me shake my head amidst giggle fits.
This woman is the head of Georgia’s Republican Party. The Republican Party has lately been “the stupid party” as Bobby Jindal stated referencing the 2012 election. Seriously, she’s not smart or just wrote something emotional without thinking.
We all know that the U.S. military has a pretty good health care plan. We also know that military spouses and couples get these benefits and even get to live off-base if there’s a mandatory on-base requirement for non-married military personnel at a base. We know that many of these “heterosexual” couples only got marred for the benefits, and even some of them have open marriages or are marriages of convenience with one or both parties being fully homosexual.
There have been celebrity marriages to offset rumors of (whatever) in the celebrity’s personal life. There have been marriages to bilk money out of elderly lonely rich people. There have been marriages for state, local, company, and even federal benefits. There have been marriages to legally solidify the union that has already been going for over 20 years. There have been marriages to get a woman’s family’s money and/or her associated kingdom or empire. All of those marriages involve some type of benefit without considering any sexual relationship, love, or commitment.
Sue Everhart, it seems, lives in a country club church world where everyone is perfect and she knows no unsavory characters. I’m sure some of her friends or associates married for benefits and they aren’t gay. How she made the jump to that conclusion is beyond me. Did she see I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry recently and get spooked?
Calm that noise, please Ms. Everhart. Or at least look within your own sexuality to pick out that log before you go looking for splinters in the eyes of homosexuals.
