Boston, I Have Questions

| April 22, 2013 | 0 Comments

Okay, so, Thursday night I had just finished recording and editing my blog and it was uploading to YouTube. I piddled around preparing for the next day and got to bed a little after 2 a.m. I checked Twitter before bed and got caught up in all the Tweeters posting about the Boston Marathon bombing’s suspects being on the run. I saw reports of a shootout and how a shooter threw a pressure cooker bomb at the police. I heard reports of a shooter wearing a suicide vest. I heard reports of a Mercedes SUV being driven, at increasing speed, through the police barricade in Watertown, MA.

I heard reports that authorities were looking for three men now, two were the men from the surveillance camera footage who dropped the bombs in place at the Marathon. I heard reports that one of the men arrested at the scene was asked to strip naked to ensure he wasn’t wearing a suicide vest. He complied and was taken away on camera (I saw this), but his genitals were blurred out, not his face (oddly enough. The face is the important part in that, right?). I heard a report that they were also looking for an older man with a device on him.

I fell asleep and woke up to put my phone in a safer place and to turn off the television. I woke up about 8:30 a.m. and immediately checked Twitter for updates on this story and flipped on the television to MSNBC, not trusting CNN one iota after a week of embarrassing, racist, and inaccurate reporting that just. didn’t. stop.

Keene Point of View - Dzhokhar Tsarnaev

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev

I heard they were looking for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev alone now and that his older brother Tamerlan was already dead, dying in a hospital after the shootout scene cleared. Apparently, Dzhokhar ran over his brother and got away from police after his brother had been shot by police. The Medical Examiner later would tell the media that Tamerlan was wounded from head to toe. You know it’s bad when even the Medical Examiner is like, “I say! Good Lord!” and throws up his hands in shock.

My outstanding questions are not about Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, but about these other two incidents that I have heard nothing about and haven’t heard the first retraction.

1. What happened to the naked guy they arrested? How was he attached to this case? How was he at the shootout scene if he wasn’t a police officer or one of the suspects? Not too many people will hang around a shootout scene with automatic weapons and bombs going off at the ready.

2. Where is this old man? Who is he? Did he ever exist? Is he in Canada by now waiting until things cool off until a more opportune time to blow himself up?

If anyone has answers to these questions, please let me know.

As a jab to the NRA and the crazier supporters of gun rights, WHERE WERE YOU DURING THE SHOOTOUT? WHY DIDN’T YOU HAVE YOUR AK-35 READY AND TAKE OUT DZHOKHAR TSARNAEV? WHY DIDN’T YOU HELP THE POLICE? “If only there was an armed person at Newtown, no one would be dead.” Yeah, well, a police officer is dead from responding to an armed robbery call at a 7-Eleven in Watertown and according to y’all, someone should have been a hero by now. There was ample opportunity, right? Also, yes, please, let’s relax more gun laws so that people like Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev can get more access to automatic weapons that police officers don’t even have.

But again, if anyone can answer the questions of what happened to naked-arrested-guy and the old man, please do so.
