I really hate myself and my life choices right now. Why? Because I’m writing a thinkpiece about two pop stars because people outside of their industry are commenting on their antics at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) last night, and I am not a strong fan of either.

Note: I don’t hate women or feminists, and I feel that women should have equal standing with men in society. I’m not implying that any of the pictured women are not smart. I’m just asking what is driving the requirement for women to be nude to show adulthood versus men not being given the same requirement.

So, this isn’t really about twerking. It’s not about accusing a group of people of cultural theft. It’s really about taking pride in what you’ve done, where you come from, and enjoying that you can do it because not everyone has that luxury.
